In order to borrow items from the library, patrons must have their student or employee I.D. card with a library barcode on the back. Patrons receive their barcode during their first visit to the library.
Students and Staff may borrow:
• Up to 12 books for a period of 2 weeks
• Up to 3 of any DVD, VHS, DVD/CD ROM, and up to 4 Audio Music CD’s.
Faculty have the following loan periods:
• Books: 1 full semester
• A/V items: 1 week
Items can be renewed either in the library or online as long as no hold for the item exists.
Items that do not circulate include periodicals, reference books, and course reserves. Periodicals and reference books may be used in the library and course reserves must be used either in the library or in the library reading room and are checked out for two hours at a time. There are two copy machines and one scanner in the library that can be used to make copies of material from non-circulating items.
Fines:
Patrons are fined for overdue materials. Overdue books are 10 cents per day, per book, with a five dollar cap. Overdue A/V materials are one dollar per day, per item, also with a five dollar cap. When a student’s fines have exceeded $25, he or she will no longer be allowed to borrow items until the fines are paid below $25.
Items that are 90 days overdue become “lost items,” and result in a hold on the student’s school account. A resulting bill for a flat fee of $50 per lost item can be paid with student accounting. If a lost item is returned to the library, the fine is dismissed.
The flat fee of $50 covers the cost of the item, overdue fines, the cost of physically processig the material, and the cost of paid staff time.
