What is MLA?
MLA stands for "Modern Language Association," which is a professional organization for scholars and teachers of language and literature.
One of the things the Modern Language Assocation does is create guidelines on how to format research papers. Guidelines make it easier for scholars, teachers, and students to share their work.
When someone talks about "MLA format," they're talking about following those specific guidelines!
